Every year on the 2nd of October, Indians gather to celebrate Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday. This day is proclaimed as national public and bank holiday across the nation.
Indians celebrate the birth of the iconic front runner and his importance towards India’s freedom. He is also known as the ‘father of the nation’ the name offered to him due to his contributions towards the country during it’s fight against the British. On this day countrymen pay homage to the great leader who has sacrificed his life for the betterment of his country.
On this day prayers and songs are sung for him across the country. Schools and universities hold various competitions and programs as a celebration. One of Mahatma Gandhi’s favorite bhajans called the Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram is sung by students all across the countries.
